Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.
Helen Keller
Studies have shown that nearly 47% of people experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE).

The original study of ACEs from 1995 to 1997 found 10 childhood traumas that can go on to negatively impact the adult life of a person:
Emotional Abuse
Physical neglect
Emotional neglect
Mother or father treated violently
Household substance Abuse
Household mental illness
Parental separation and divorce
Physical Abuse
Incarcerated household member
Sexual Abuse
Childhood traumas can cause mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and CPTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). These can take a toll on relationships as an adult making it impossible for your relationships to grow healthily. Trauma experienced in Childhood can result in ongoing life difficulties. Trauma causes the nervous system to be dysregulated which can be felt in physical illness, distressed relationships, altered cognitive capacities, and an ongoing search for safety and relief from the intensity of living with a nervous system out of balance.

ACEs are linked to chronic health problems, mental illness (such as anxiety and depression) and substance abuse problems in adolescence and adulthood, and can negatively impact education, job opportunities and relationships.

Trauma Focused Therapy can deal with the past and help you move forward into a brighter, healthier future.
